Blog #5: Runway Fashion

With runway models comes runway fashion. There are many very interesting styles that becomes the trend and the styles make it big on the runway. With eye-catching designs, color, and materials, runway fashion most definitely have the styles that will make you go "Wow". There are also many fashion weeks all around the world but only 4 made it to be known as the "Big Four": New York, London, Milan, and Paris.
Fashion Week
The first ever fashion week started in 1943 in New York with the purpose of distracting attention from French fashion during World War II when workers in the fashion industry were unable to travel to Paris. Before World War II, Americans were known for relying on the French couture for inspiration on fashion. The fashion week we know now was once called "Press Week" for American designers to showcase their works to fashion journalists, who had previously ignored their works. As a result to their successful shows, magazines like Vogue (which was normally filled with French designs) began to feature more American works.
Women's Fashion
With the high standards for measurements (especially height), women would usually be seen with high heels on the runway nevertheless. Most of them are slender with either much makeup or natural makeup. They wear a variety of styles, long dresses, colorful patterns, and even some revealing outfits.
Men's Fashion
Men are often wearing monochromatic colors with a masculine aurora. From a clean suit to half a piece of fabric, there is much variety that the guys can be seen with. Sometimes they'll even wear a more feminine piece like a skirt or a dress.
Branded Fashion
Most of the fashion shows include designs from high-end designers and even some shows are only for that specific designer/brand. Many of them include designs that are so beautiful everyone wishes to have. Then there are some that people wonder who would ever wear those. The price of one outfit would cost a person thousands of dollars to be able to get their hands on one of those outfits.
Progress: Finding specific fashion for the runway was a bit difficult because I don't know much about whats in the trend of the fashion industry. It's like a whole new world that only the learned ones will understand. But being able to do a little research on the industry was pretty interesting and indeed very different then what is popular to the public nowadays. They had much more revealing clothes then covered up clothes. There were also many dresses and see through outfits. Most of the high end designs included jewels or some sort of sparkling material. It stand out to the audience and will be very easy to remember.
Reflection: For my 2nd blog I researched he fashion on the runway and it was very different then what a normal person is used to. Everything is much more specific and very colorful in some aspects. I learned that even though the outfits don't suit our taste, they are perfect in the fashion industry. With all the uniqueness, other people would take ideas here and there and make a new design out of that. The styles we see on the runway could be the ideas of 10 or more other styles that the designer have investigated. There are also some really nice and elegant pieces that I think any person would like to wear one day.
